The Riga derby lived up to its billing on Tuesday evening as Riga FC overturned an early deficit to defeat city rivals RFS 3–1 in front of a passionate home crowd. The win not only bolsters Riga FC’s title ambitions but also cements their dominance in one of the fiercest rivalries in Latvian football.

Riga FC - RFS (3-1)

RFS took the lead in the 51st minute through Jānis Ikaunieks, who calmly finished inside the box after finding space behind the defense. It was a composed strike that gave the visitors a brief advantage and silenced the home supporters.

But the response from Riga FC was immediate and emphatic.

Just three minutes later, Amadou Ankrah equalized after being set up brilliantly by Gauthier Mankenda, slotting the ball past the keeper with composure.

The hosts continued to press, and their efforts were rewarded late in the match. In the 88th minute, Marko Regža gave Riga the lead, converting a decisive chance after Mouhamadou Diop’s clever assist in the box.

As RFS pushed forward in search of an equalizer, Riga struck again on the counter in stoppage time. Ankrah secured his brace with a calm finish to put the game out of reach and seal all three points for his side.
